Departmental User Restrictions in Financial Reporter for Ledger 8.0D (2006.05.12) and FX 8.0F (2006.10.20) You can now restrict which departments (or department groups and ranges) a user is permitted to see. This option allows you to limit the departments that certain users can work with on the financial statements that they have open, when that user is logged in.

1. Log in as User "SYS" to set these restrictions. Only the System Administrator can create these restrictions. Other users cannot see this menu option, and cannot modify it. Ensure that the System Administrator logs in to Adagio before starting the Financial Reporter if you want to set this option.

2. Open View | Departments.

3. Select Create user department restrictions from the pop-up context menu. In the Departments tree, you can right-click anywhere and you will see the "Create user departmental restrictions" option at the bottom of the pop-up menu.

4. When you select the Create user departmental restrictions option, the following window appears.

5. From the displayed tree of known users, expand the tree and select which department each user is permitted to view. When that user launches the financial reporter, they will only see the permitted departments in the department drop down.

To restrict a user from seeing and working with certain departments on financial statements, go to that department number, mask, or range, and click the checkbox beside it off.

To permit a user to see and work with that department, mask, or range, click the checkbox on.

Click OK to save your changes. Exit from Financial Reporter and Ledger/FX so that the security settings are updated.

6. The next time the user logs in, they will not be able to see the unchecked departments in the Departments tree.
