Enhancements and revisions in Adagio Inventory 8.1A (20090217)

Compatible with Adagio Receivables 9.0A (unless Adagio OrderEntry is used – see note below). Compatibility with earlier versions of Adagio Receivables is maintained. The Enter Shipments, Import Shipments and Inquiry functions support in the Customer in Adagio Receivables 9.0A. Customer Alerts are also supported.

The date control has been updated to improve the speed of data entry. You can enter just the 1 or 2-character day in any date field without having to enter the month or year. The month and year are automatically populated with the initial values from the field. For example, if the date is 1/23/2009, typing “22” and tab changes the date to 1/22/2009. You can also enter just 4 characters for the day and month (zeros are required) and the year will be populated. This change speeds up data entry in most cases where you need to enter a date different than the session date or last remembered date.

The options ‘Enable SF Export’ and ‘Enable SF Printing’ have been added to the Edit User screen to allow you to disable Excel Direct in Smart Finders to help safeguard your sales data, customer list and other information in your database.

The Smart Finder performance has been significantly improved across a network.

Deleting an item now also deletes all transactions in history for the item. This allows item numbers to be reused in the future, although this is not recommended as history for the item may still exist in SalesAnalysis and in history in OrderEntry and Adagio Invoices. The Data Integrity Check (DIC) will detect and remove all transactions in history for items that have been previously deleted. This means the DIC will report these transactions as errors the first time you run it after installing this version of Inventory. These errors should not be a cause for concern. Rebuild will remove these transactions and they will not be there next time the DIC is run. If you have a large Historical database, please allow sufficient time for the rebuild process to complete.

The Help (.CHM) file has been enhanced.

WebSafe changed to vitalEsafe™ in Backup function to reflect the 3rd party name change.

When you size a screen containing a grid, the size is automatically adjusted so that an entire line will be visible for the last grid line. This corrects a problem where double-clicking on a partially displayed last line selected a different line than the one intended.

Added new option ‘Allow stock transfers between items’ to the Company Profile, System Options tab. This prevents the possibility of accidentally transferring between items when you only ever want to transfer between Locations.

The copy number did not show in the window title when more than one instance of Adagio Inventory was open on the same machine (for example: “Adagio Inventory (2) – Adagio Corporation”).

When printing or previewing the Physical Inventory Worksheet with both Unit Cost and Quantity on Hand the two fields were on top of each other in some cases.

The Quantity on Hand printed on the Physical Inventory Worksheet whether it was selected or not, in some cases.

Posting Sales Returns in Shipments wrote the quantity to the Summary Statistics with the wrong sign (positive when should have been negative).

Importing Shipments with a blank Department code did not use the Department code from the Location.

Import Shipments used the wrong costing for items using Standard costing in some cases.

The backdated Item Valuation report showed the wrong unit cost in some cases.

The Selling Price/Markup Analysis report displayed a message in some cases if the base price was zero, saying that margins could not be calculated.

The Unit of Measure printed in wrong place on the Physical Inventory Worksheet.

Enhancements and revisions in earlier versions of Adagio Inventory

Refer to the Readme help file for details of enhancements and revisions in earlier versions.

Installing

To install Adagio Inventory you need the serial number and install code from the Product Label that came with the Product CD or from the download email sent to you by Softrak Systems.

If you are installing an upgrade, you need the serial number and install code from the Upgrade Product Label that came with your upgrade CD or from the download email. A previous version of Adagio Inventory should already be installed on your computer before installing the upgrade. If a previous version is not already installed, you can still install the upgrade. After entering the upgrade serial number and install code, you will also have to enter the serial number and install code from a previous version.

If you are installing a Service Pack, you do not need to enter a serial number or install code. However, a previous version of Adagio Inventory 8.1A must be installed before the Service Pack can be installed.

To install Adagio Inventory (or an upgrade) insert the CD in the drive. If the install program does not start automatically, run ADAGIO.EXE from the root of the CD. . Or, if Adagio Inventory was downloaded, run the program file you downloaded. Once the install program is running, you can click the View button to open the Readme file for detailed instructions. If Adagio Inventory is installed on a network you must also do a workstation install for each workstation running Adagio Inventory. Refer to “Installing on a network” in the Readme for instructions.

To install the Adagio Inventory Service Pack, run the Service Pack program and follow the instructions on the screen. After installing the Service Pack, a workstation install may be required at each station running Adagio Inventory. To determine if a workstation install is required, start Adagio Inventory at the workstation. The workstation install will be automatically started if required. Note: If you are updating multiple applications at the same time, it may be faster to run the all workstation install to update all applications at once on the station. Refer to “Installing on a Network” in the Readme for instructions.

Upgrading to Service Pack 8.1A (2009.02.17)

Adagio Inventory 8.1A (2009.02.17) is compatible with Adagio Receivables 9.0A (unless Adagio OrderEntry is used). Compatibility with earlier versions of Adagio Receivables is maintained. If Adagio OrderEntry is used, and A/R is 9.0A, then Adagio OrderEntry must be version 8.1C or higher and Adagio Inventory must be 8.1B.

Deleting an item now also deletes all transactions in history for the item.

Upgrading to 8.1A

Refer to the Important Notes section of the Readme help to review important considerations before installing and upgrading to 8.1A from 8.0A or earlier. The Readme Help can be viewed by starting the install.

Adagio Inventory 8.1A requires Adagio Lanpak to be version 8.1A or higher.

Adagio Inventory 8.1A converts databases from earlier versions. Once converted the database is no longer compatible with earlier versions.

Audit list files are converted to a new structure to allow Transaction History to be updated by posting rather than having to print and clear audit lists. These include the Item Assembly Audit List, Receipts Audit List and Adjustment Audit List. Since clearing the audit lists no longer updates history, the conversion also updates history with the contents of those audit lists. The existing transactions in the audit lists are retained for printing.

Custom reports you have created in Crystal Reports for Adagio or views you have created in Adagio GridView for the new audit list files will have to be adjusted or recreated.

The conversion to 8.1A from 8.0A or earlier (but not from 8.0B) converts the Transaction History and could take a significant period of time (several minutes or even hours) on databases with a large number of transactions in history. This is particularly true if your data is on a network drive. For large databases, you may want to copy your database to a local machine, convert the data, and then copy it back. We strongly recommend you contact your dealer or consultant for assistance with this procedure and take a backup before proceeding.

Adagio Inventory 8.1A converts the History Transaction file used in 8.0A and earlier versions (but not 8.0B), and including ACCPAC® Plus™ Inventory Control. Once converted, the History Transaction file is no longer compatible. Therefore, the Evaluation and Client Not For Resale (NFR) versions must not be used directly on live databases by sites running ACCPAC Plus Inventory Control. You should make a copy of your live data to evaluate Adagio Inventory. Contact your dealer or consultant for details on creating a copy of your live data.

Adagio Inventory 8.1A and ACCPAC Plus Inventory Control can be used concurrently on the same database, although there are some considerations relating to Transaction History and Audit Lists. See the Readme for details and/or contact you dealer or consultant for assistance.
