Refreshing a View that had extra spaces in a Filter or Calculated Column would cause a "Not Responding" state in GridView 8.1A.
And these improvements were made in earlier releases...

Compatible with Windows Vista and Adagio Lanpaks V8.1A. All Adagio modules are now signed with a Verisign digital certificate, and Help files are now "CHM" format and installed on the local workstation. Alt-tab displays the Adagio screen, rather than the Adagio module Icon when switching between tasks under Vista.

New functions, header/footer codes, and regional formatting options have been added.

Named sequences can be defined and attached to specific filters, allowing the selection of a filter to automatically present the rows in a different sequence.

Links can be "joined" to another View, to permit selecting records within a previously selected View. For example, link a customer list to sales records from SalesAnalysis. Click on a customer to see all purchases by that customer. Link an item list to the same SalesAnalysis View, and "Join" the link. Clicking on an item will now show only the purchases of that item by the previously selected customer.

Links can be "outer joined" (or negated) to another View, allowing the display of all records that "do not match" the linked fields. Use this feature to show all customers that have not bought a specific item.

File | Open now remembers that most recently opened modules and tables. If you frequently create Views into a few specific files, this will make locating the correct module and table simpler and quicker.

Adagio GridView Server is now supported. To speed up your data inquiries, GridView Server software processes the GridView Filters right on the server where your data resides, so that only the resulting record set, not the full database, is transmitted over the local area network.

Hints have been added to make your work easier. They pop up when the mouse cursor hovers over column titles. The field name and link are shown for data fields; formula text appears for calculated columns.

Multiple, named filters allow a single View into a file to easily present different information to a user. Select customers over their credit limit, or who haven't paid an invoice for over 30 days. Just click on a dropdown listing all your filters to select different records for a View.

Scan all open batches in a single View. Use the DATAFILENAME() function to determine which batch contains the information you are looking for.

Import or Export named filters or formulas. Easily create and maintain library of useful formulas and selection rules.

Automatically translate coded fields. Turn on this feature to automatically translate internal codes to readable text values.

Incorporate fields from related tables using GridView's new "composite table". Composite tables are available for Version 8.0 releases of Adagio.
