If you're afraid you can’t get approval to attend AOC 2010, here are some items you should consider.
The cost is too high
While there is a cost to all training, there is an even greater cost of not knowing how your software works and how to use it to your best advantage. If we save you only an hour or so a week, or prevent one or two shipping errors, the total cost of training will easily be recovered.
It’s not in the budget
That’s why we tried to give everyone advance notice. Hopefully, June is still in your next fiscal year. By starting to plan now for the expense, you’ll be in a good position when the time comes to step on a plane to Vancouver.
It’s too far away
It’s true it’s likely a plane ride (perhaps with a stop) for most of our users, but once you’re on a plane, the distance you travel makes very little difference to either the price or the time. Our conference fees include almost all the meals and the hotel too. You will have only a few incidental expenses to take care of during the conference.
We’re a not-for-profit
We understand that, and many of our users fall into this category. However, there is a cost to the organization for not training their accounting staff well. This cost may rear its head in extra audit fees or extra staff time preparing budgets or re-allocating expenses. A conference like this, with your peers who use the same accounting software, allows you to trade ideas about their approach to problem solving. Many Adagio users still correspond with delegates they met at last year’s conference.
Only management attends conferences
Perhaps that’s because no one thinks to ask about opportunities like this. Last year, one of our most excited attendees just assumed she would not be able to attend. When her Adagio consultant suggested asking anyway,
she was amazed when the answer came back “Yes”! If you don’t ask, the answer is always “No”, and accounting departments are used to cutting back their own expenses, to the detriment of their own work quality.
